Edition 1994-1994 : Analog - AGFA FILM - Red/White with dark gray roof - 300 units Edition: 1994-1994 : Digital Delta - AGFA FILM - Red/White - Distributed worldwide (10.000 units) Source: www.3rail.nl In the 1970s, the project “Bahn 2000” was launched, a new expansion programme for the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The order for the development of a new series of locomotives, which would be known as the Re 4/4 VI, was issued in 1985. In 1987, 12 units were ordered, in 1989 87 units and in 1992 another 20. The first locomotive, which according to the new SBB scheme is designated as the series 460, was put into service in 1992. The locomotives have 4 axles and 4 traction motors, and were made by the companies ABB and SLM. Each motor has a maximum output of 1560 kW. The latest technical gadgets were used in the construction and production of this locomotive. For example, the drivers cab was not made of metal, but of glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GFK). The entire front was then glued to the rest of the locomotive. (source: booklet with locomotive) In 1994, an Re460 was provided with advertising for the first time (Agfa film). This was an additional source of income and proved to be a success, after which more and more Re460 locomotives followed in advertising livery.
