Donnerbüchse ABi, 1st/2nd Class
2-axle “Donnerbüchse” transit car, ABi, 1st/2nd. Class. Private carriage as a museum railway carriage in ruby red/beige basic color scheme. With wagon running sign “Special trip wagon 6”. Historically approximate condition of Epoch III.
The name Donnerbüchse (originally Donnerwagen ) refers to the two-axle transit passenger cars of the Deutsche Reichsbahn , which were built from 1921 and, in contrast to the previous versions, were made entirely of iron or steel (all-steel design). The name is based on the loud roar of these vehicles due to the lack of insulation. The direct predecessors of these cars also received this name despite their wooden construction. |
