The golden age of travel and a feel for railroading comes up when observing this painting and interpreting it more closely. A class 39 steam locomotive (the legendary Prussian P10) waits for its approaching departure order – the Zp 9 signal – next to an abstractly depicted older design electric locomotive in front of a large station shed. This sublime, magnificent building serves to clarify which significant, important, and impressive role railroading had in the 19th and 20th centuries, that it was acknowledged with such architecturally, sophisticated buildings as a station shed. |
