This model was made exclusively for the 3railforum in honor of the 10th anniversary, and was produced in a limited edition of 580 units.
Furthermore, In January, a campaign was started by the 3rail forum to celebrate the 10th anniversary, which took place on February 1, 2016. Initially the intention was to have freight cars with 3railforum advertising produced by Märklin. However, the 3railforum was given the opportunity to also have a special 3railforum advertising locomotive of the DHG500 produced in a limited edition for this anniversary. The condition for the locomotive was that a minimum (and maximum) of 250 units would be purchased. There was a minimum order quantity of 500 units for the car, no maximum.
A total of 250 locomotives and 580 cars were ordered by forum members.
Ultimately, 600 cars and 262 locomotives were delivered by Märklin. The reason why 12 more than the planned 250 were manufactured is that Märklin took into account a margin of error (failure due to misprint or manufacturing error). The extra 12 will be distributed among the forum members who were on the reserve list. |
