Description
Rail Bus with a Control Car. Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) class 5081 motor car with a class 6581 trailer unit. Parallel designs to the German class VT 98/VS 98 rail bus. The interiors and windows arranged different by the type of car. The powered rail bus comes with an mfx digital decoder, controlled, high-efficiency Softdrive Sine propulsion, and a sound effects generator. The rail bus has a maintenance-free, compact-design motor, centrally mounted. 2 axles powered. Traction tires. The headlights (warm white LEDs), marker lights, and interior lights are maintenance-free LEDs. The headlights, marker lights, and the interior lights will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. The engineers areas and the passenger areas have interior details. There is a current-conducting coupling in NEM coupler pockets with a guide mechanism between the cars. The headlights / marker lights between the cars can be turned off when they are operated in a multiple unit train. That is why the 2 motor version (VT98.9) was developed. The VT98 has an engine output of 2x 150 hp and reaches a maximum speed of 90km/h. From 1955 a total of 332 motor cars (VT) of the VT98 series were built and delivered. In addition, 100 in-stock car load-free and 220 with luggage compartment (VB98) as well as 321 wheel boxes (VS98) were ordered and delivered. The VT98 has 56+2 seats. The VT98 was built in 1953 and in the period 1955-1962. The last schien van of the VT98 series was set aside by the DB in 2000.
