The 1800 series is the most powerful and economical locomotive in the Netherlands. These locomotives have been in use by the NS since 1981 and started as the 1600 series. In 1999, the NS split these locomotives into a 1600 and an 1800 series: the 1600s were intended for freight transport and placed with NS Cargo (now Railion) and the 1800s were intended for passenger transport and went to NS Reizigers. The locomotives are named after cities and have a city coat of arms.
The Märklin model 37264 is a version of locomotive 1835 of the NS. This locomotive bears the name and coat of arms of the city of Enschede. |
