The E 60 was one of the few electric switch engines that the German Federal Railroad took over from the German State Railroad. In the 1950s all of the locomotives in this class were equipped with brakemans platforms for switching work and were painted red as part of an extensive overhaul program. The original pantographs with two wipers were replaced by standard design pantographs with a single wiper. |
