Description
The locomotive in this set is an electric locomotive of the Ae 6/6 series of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) in red livery from era IV. The model was released in 1998. The version is Delta digital and has a Drum Collector Motor (DCM) with field coil and a Märklin 6603 Delta Decoder, on which the address can be set on the decoder by means of dip switches. The 3 double-decker carriages in this set are from the Züricher S-Bahn. Source wiki-3rail-.nl At the beginning of the 1950s, freight transport had grown to such an extent that the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) decided to develop a new locomotive that had to be powerful, fast and above all light. The locomotive had to be able to handle the increased freight transport on the Gotthard line and take the place of the outdated Ae 4/6, Ae 4/7 and Ce 6/8 II, which now had to be used in double traction for heavy freight transport on the Gotthard line. The construction of the Ae 6/6 was ordered, a 6-axle (2 bogies with 3 axles), Swiss locomotive with wheel arrangement CoCo with a power of 4400 kW and a maximum speed of 125 km/h. A total of 120 units of this powerful locomotive were built. The first 25 machines were given coats of arms of the Swiss cantons, the other machines were provided with the coats of arms of Swiss municipalities. Decorative stripes are / were only reserved for the locomotives 11401-11425 from this series that carried / carried the name of a canton.
