Description
Steam locomotive German Federal Railroad (DB) class 01.10 express train steam locomotive with oil firing and Witte smoke deflectors. Operating condition around 1966/67. History: The locomotive, which has been preserved as a museum by the Ulm Railway Friends , is regularly used on special trips in front of various car combinations and to destinations all over Europe. The rides are very popular, as they still show quite impressively what a train journey felt like in the 50s to the 70s. An unfortunate accident occurred when the locomotive accidentally slipped off a turntable during shunting work at the Kornwestheim depot in December 1996 and was severely damaged. The upcoming repair work was complex and expensive and so the people of Ulm were also looking for sponsors. The Märklin company took part and launched a special model of the BR 01.1066 in 1997. It is included an amount of 5 DM as a donation for the repairs that were to be carried out at the time. The locomotive was also hit by damage in 2005. Since its renovation, the locomotive has been used again for special trips and can be seen at many railway events throughout Germany.
