With the modern diesel multiple unit class 628, the Deutsche Bundesbahn (BD) wanted to win back customers in regional traffic. The first series of units of the new train were put into service by the DB in Schleswig-Holstein, where the DB agreed with the state government on a new concept for the supply in the region. Since then, the connection between the individual modes of transport on road and rail has been improved by means of coordinated connections and a widely distributed operating time system. In the meantime, similar concepts have also been introduced in other federal states, and the green multiple units are spreading over the branch lines of the entire country. |
